Speaker: Carla Comer
Carla Comer, is a native of Westover, WV. She and her husband, Mike, are the parents of two sons.
Carla was baptized Catholic as an infant and attended Catholic school for 12 years but never embraced a Catholic identity. God and the church always felt distant, unapproachable and judgmental to her. She began to experience depression at a young age which left her feeling empty, alone and angry. She always felt something was missing but couldn’t pinpoint what that was.
During her teen years, Carla became increasingly depressed and angry with God. She left the church, renounced God and began searching for what was missing. This search left her feeling isolated and more depressed. One night, for the first time in years, she cried out to God for help and He answered that same night. God revealed to her the missing piece in her life was a relationship with Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. In her walk with Christ, Carla has experienced Christ’s healing touch as well His joy and peace. Her desire is that everyone encounters the risen Christ and his restorative, healing love.
Carla is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Fairmont where she serves as a sacristan. She has worked on many Teens Encounter Christ Retreats, been a member of several charismatic prayer groups and leads the Magnificat music ministry team.
Come and hear Carla’s encounter with Christ and her healing as she shares her faith journey with us.
