These are just a few of the names we have for Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Beginning this week, we will feature one 'name' for Mary. We will look at why Mary is given that name and what it is that we can learn from her. Beginning with January 1, we will also chronical a year of Marian Feast Days to learn more about the Feast Days dedicated to Mary.
This week we will start simply (in one sense of the word) with Mary, the Mother of God.
We, as Catholics believe in a Triune God. One God in three persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. When God the Son came to earth, he was born of a woman - Mary. Hence, her name Mary, Mother of God.
